Available tap water contains harmful contaminants and chemicals, which sometimes can be fatal. Our water supply system has become more contaminated because of the aging of the municipal water supply delivery systems. Water from those sources may contain rust from pipes, potentially harmful toxins like hydrogen sulfide, too much iron, certain other heavy metals and an ever increasing range of annoying, if not dangerous, contaminants alone which are responsible for some of the bad tastes and putrid smells that have been found in residential water supplies.
Here arises the requirement of a whole house water treatment system, which can provide pure and safety water for all taps connected to the main line. In the old houses the main pipes might be rusted, but it will be very much expensive to replace all those pipes. Here we can use the whole house water treatment systems in a less expense to filter the water.
A whole house type water filter is something, which is connected to the main water line entering the house so that we will get well treated water from all the taps, like kitchen, toilet, laundry etc. Typically it will treat the main water line before it splits into the hot water heaters. If we are using water from the wells and lakes, this type of water filter will be helpful. Usually the system is comprised of two types of filters in series, the first one serves as a sediment filter which will block all the large particles and sediments like sand, dirt and other metal particles. The second one provides the finer filtration type and also absorbs chlorine and many more types of contaminants that effectuate a bad water taste and or odor. Some people may not like the taste of chlorine, in this case we can use this type of whole water filter to provide hygienic water supply, to prevent the impending diseases.

First water filters today are more important than ever, because, of the obvious pollution of streams, rivers, ponds, groundwater and the biggest of all our oceans. Minute despots of all sorts of chemicals are found in our drinking water, enough to bring in to question, how safe the filtration systems are across the US. On a recent camping trip to the ocean, we discovered just how salty the drinking water tasted and its detrimental effects on any metal object that happened to be in contact with it. Do not use a metal cup for drinking!
Water filters are available for many uses today, for the home, office, and outdoors use, they are easy to use and the benefit is well worth cost. Filters are varied in size and material, make sure your filter is right for the job. Coffee filters are used only once and can be discarded into the compost bin.
Facet filters have an indicator letting you know when to discard and install a new one. Now we can filter water from the refrigerator, and not only the drinking water from the refrigerator but also the ice cubs are made from filtered water. When purchasing prepackaged ice cubes check with the vendor to make sure the water was filtered before being frozen. Whole house filtering systems are now available, to insure not only the drinking water but all your water sources within the living area can be safe to drink and bath in. A cheap and easy way to use water filters to filter large amounts of water is through a series of charcoal filters in a gravity driven water filtering plant, which can easily be built for your home.
